Amy Lamb - Integrative Psychotherapist
Bio
I understand that taking the first steps toward change is hard and sometimes scary but I hope that my approachability and humour can make this experience a positive one.
I am an integrative, person-centred psychotherapeutic counsellor and Psychotherapist and I offer both short-term counselling and long-term depth psychotherapy. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is the most important part of therapeutic work and within a safe space, I will provide a trusting environment for you to explore whatever it is that you are struggling with.
I am an integrative psychotherapist, with a core modality of Transactional Analysis. However, I draw upon various other modalities in order to create a bespoke therapy plan to address the specific needs of each client.Â
So whether you are feeling overwhelmed by patterns that no longer serve you - whether that be in your relationships, your emotions or your sense of self. I offer an integrative, trauma-informed approach to therapy that honours your unique story and inner resilience. Grounded in attachment theory and enriched by a blend of evidence-based modalities, our work together will support you in your healing journey. That may be exploring the impact of early wounds, building healthier connections, understanding roots of anxiety, shifting relationship dynamics or moving through the effects of trauma. Therapy can be a powerful space to reconnect with yourself and others in a more authentic and meaningful way.
Experience
Before choosing a career as a counsellor, after graduating with my BSc Hons in Psychology I gained experience within the psychology departments of local prisons before moving into the police for many years. I then made the decision to train as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist and since that point I have worked within various mental health sectors including NHS and EAP.Â
My past career choices do still influence my work today and I have a special interest in trauma work in all different forms, whether that be PTSD, childhood trauma etc.
I have experience working both long term and short term with clients and work in an integrative manner, creating a bespoke treatment plan to meet a clients needs. I have additional qualifications in EMDR and clinical supervision.
I am currently undertaking an additional Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship therapy in order to deepen my understanding of sexual and relationship issues.
