Samaira Hanif - Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
Bio
I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 20 years of experience supporting people to overcome difficulties and create meaningful change in their lives.
I work with a wide range of issues, and I have particular expertise in treating OCD, panic disorder, phobias, and anxiety-related problems. Alongside these, I frequently support people struggling with stress, low confidence, depression, health anxiety, burnout, and perfectionism.
My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and informed by third-wave approaches such as mindfulness, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This allows me to tailor therapy to each individual, making sure we work in a way that feels relevant, collaborative, and effective for you.
I have a strong interest in culturally sensitive therapy and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds. Many of my clients value being able to explore their difficulties in a space where cultural and family experiences are understood and respected.
Clients often describe my style as compassionate, non-judgemental, and approachable. I aim to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel heard and understood, while also gently encouraging you to take steps toward lasting change.
Whether you are seeking help with a specific anxiety disorder, feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, or simply wanting to improve your wellbeing, therapy can provide you with the tools and space to move forward.
If you’re considering therapy, I welcome you to book a session or get in touch for a free initial consultation. Together, we can explore your goals and work towards the changes that matter most to you.
Experience
I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 20 years of experience helping people overcome emotional difficulties and improve their quality of life.
Throughout my career I have worked in both the NHS and private practice, supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health problems. My particular expertise is in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, phobias, and anxiety-related difficulties. In addition, I regularly work with people experiencing stress, depression, health anxiety, perfectionism, low self-confidence, and burnout.
I use a collaborative and compassionate approach, drawing primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and integrating third-wave approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and mindfulness-based CBT. This flexibility allows me to tailor therapy to each person’s needs, ensuring that sessions feel relevant and practical.
Over the years, I have also developed a strong interest in culturally sensitive therapy. I have worked extensively with clients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and I place great value on providing a safe, respectful, and understanding space where identity, family, and cultural experiences can be explored.
